Frequently Asked Questions
What to know about care, appointments, payment, and visiting Steady Stance Physical Therapy in Pipersville.
Care and services
What conditions does Steady Stance treat?
Steady Stance provides physical therapy for vestibular disorders, dizziness, vertigo, BPPV, PPPD, vestibular hypofunction, vestibular migraine, Ménière’s disease-related balance concerns, balance problems, fall prevention, Parkinson’s disease, concussion, and orthopedic conditions. If you are unsure whether your concern fits, contact the clinic before scheduling.
What makes the clinic different from a larger physical therapy practice?
Appointments are one-on-one with Kristen Haug, PT, DPT. Your visit is reserved for you, allowing time for a thorough evaluation, questions, treatment, and a plan built around your symptoms and goals. Kristen is LSVT BIG certified and holds a Certificate in Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University.
Do I need to know the cause of my dizziness before I come in?
No. Many people seek care because they feel dizzy, unsteady, or sensitive to movement but do not yet have a clear explanation. A vestibular evaluation looks at your symptom history, balance, eye and head coordination, positional responses, movement tolerance, and other relevant factors to determine whether physical therapy may be appropriate.
Can vestibular therapy temporarily bring on symptoms?
Some vestibular tests or exercises may briefly reproduce familiar symptoms because they examine the movements and systems involved. Kristen will explain what to expect and adjust the intensity based on your response. The goal is a manageable, purposeful progression, not making you feel as symptomatic as possible.
Appointments
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit begins with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, daily activities, and goals. The physical examination will be selected for your concern and may include balance, walking, strength, mobility, eye and head coordination, positional testing, or activity tolerance. Kristen will explain the findings and discuss appropriate next steps.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable clothing and supportive shoes that allow you to move safely. Bring a current medication list, relevant medical or imaging reports, physician or surgical instructions, and any cane or walker you regularly use. It can also help to write down questions and note which activities or positions make your symptoms better or worse.
Do I need a referral?
Referral requirements can depend on your situation, Medicare rules, and the services being provided. Contact Steady Stance before scheduling so the clinic can confirm what is needed for your appointment. Medicare-specific requirements can also be reviewed once enrollment is complete.
How long will I need physical therapy?
The number and frequency of visits depend on your evaluation, diagnosis, goals, response to treatment, and ability to practice between appointments. Kristen will recommend a plan after learning more about your needs and will reassess progress throughout care. LSVT BIG follows a more specific intensive schedule when that program is appropriate.
Payment and Medicare
Is Steady Stance an in-network insurance provider?
Steady Stance is an out-of-network, self-pay clinic for commercial insurance plans. This model supports one-on-one visits and treatment decisions based on the patient’s needs. Contact the clinic before your first appointment for current pricing, payment procedures, and information about any documentation that may be available for out-of-network reimbursement.
Does Steady Stance accept Medicare?
Medicare enrollment will begin after Steady Stance opens and may take approximately 1 to 3 months to complete. If you have Medicare, please contact the clinic before scheduling so Kristen can explain the current enrollment status and appropriate options.
Can I submit visits to my insurance for reimbursement?
Out-of-network benefits vary by plan, and reimbursement is not guaranteed. Before beginning care, ask your insurer about out-of-network physical therapy benefits, deductibles, reimbursement requirements, and whether a referral or preauthorization is necessary. Contact Steady Stance to confirm what visit documentation the clinic can provide.
